Ondo: Deputy Gov. Agboola leads Jegede, Akeredolu in guber election by bottoming out in all 18 LGAs, awaits INEC foolscap

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared that  Ondo Deputy Governor Ajayi Agboola won the October guber election in a manner most winners have never seen:  from behind.

And this is no surprise to many Nigerians watching how the loser started his losing streak in the lead-up to the election.

The deputy governor lost in the supremacy battle with Gov Rotimi Akeredolu while both were in the APC. He then hopped with his bad luck into the PDP where he again lost the primary election to the better loser Eyitayo Jegede.

Not done, the cocky politician got his shit together, and met with a retired loser and broke godfather ex-Gov Olusegun Mimiko who owns a dead ZLP. Agboola eventually snagged the ticket there to test his parish-pump and so-called grassroots popularity against the white-maned Gov. Akeredolu and Jegede, the bragging perennial candidate of the PDP.

As it turns out, loser Agboola lost flat out in all the 18 LGAs in the state, including his own, with a 223,703 margin.

Did he see his massacre coming when he went to vote on October 10? Maybe he did. But he was too full of himself. And his arrogance still made him feel he was the best thing to ever happen to Ondo, and something must have gone pear-shaped if he lost the election.

“Ondo State people are ready to vote freely. In any contest, there must be a winner…. You can see the turnout that has been very encouraging here.”

And hours later, debunking a rumour he had chickened out, the deputy governor said:

“For the umpteenth time, and for the purposes of clarity and emphasis, the Deputy Governor and candidate of ZLP, Agboola Ajayi will not resign or back out from the race he’s winning ultimately.”

However, a loser hardly changes his grumpy nature. So he whined a little bit.

“But I want to also say that the way we have seen it here, the security arrangement is a bit compromised which is not exactly what happened in Edo State.”

The turkey already had an excuse for his impending signal failure in which he lost with 69,127 votes.

So INEC, the APC, the PDP, Ondo Citizens now wait to see how Agboola and ZLP will accept their victory, and what their victory speech will read like.
